After Sri Krishna was born to Devaki and Vasudeva, he was taken to Gokulam by Vasudeva, across the Yamuna river, at Yashoda and Nandagopa's place, in order to protect Krishna from King Kamsa.

Krishna grew up as the son of Yashoda. He grew up as a cowherd yadava in their house. Krishna grew up as the most mischievous kid ever! His Lilas in Gokulam along with the Yadava clan are stated in the great Indian Epic, Mahabharat. Though Devaki gave birth to Krishna, the Lord Himself, it was only Yasodha  who got to witness the Lilas of the lord and also to witness the beauty of the Lord in all his mischievous Lilas, smile, sleeping, even in feeding him and seeing the kid grow up! For poet-saint Surdas, only Yasodha’s deep affection for Krishna was an epitome of 'Vatsalya Prema' (Mother's Love) and even 'Vatsalya Bhakti’ (Mother's Devotion).

Witnessing Yasodha punishing Krishna for his mischievous acts by tying him to the grinding stone, Sage Narada asked : “Enna Thavam Seidhanai, Yashoda?" in Tamil, which literally means: "What penance did You (Mother Yashoda) perform  to be bestowed with the powers to punish the supreme (Sriman Narayana)". And also seen as a question to Sriman Naryana himself as to how he accepts all this. It literally means what penance Yashoda had undertaken in her previous birth to be bestowed upon with the powers to punish, love, and care for the Supreme Vishnu.

Thirukkolur Ammal is asking "Did I bring up Krishna like Yashoda did, with utmost love and care?"
