Agastya was a revered Vedic sage of Hinduism, who is one of the seven or eight most revered rishis in the Vedic texts. He lived in the Dandakaranya forest with his wife Lopamudra, on the banks of river Godavari. While explaining about Sage Agastya to Lakshmana, Lord Rama said – “Sage Agastya is of such a purified nature that in his hermitage a liar cannot live, nor a deceitful person, nor a wicked person, nor one that is committed to sinful activity.”

When Sri Rama entered the Dandakaranya forest in his exile, He went to the ashramas of several maharishis and paid His respects to them, along with Sita and Lakshmana. He went to see Sage Agastya too. Agastya received Rama with respect and love. Knowing Rama's avatara secrecy and what was to come, he presented Him with three weapons - a bow made by Visvakarma for Vishnu, an inexhaustible quiver and a sword. He said to Lord Rama, "This bow which belongs to Vishnu. It was made by Vishvakarma. Using this bow, Maha Vishnu killed many asuras and helped the devas. These two quivers which never reduce in arrows and this sword were given to me by Indra. Take these weapons and use them effectively in slaying the demons."

Thirukkolur Ammal is asking "Did I help the Lord like Agastya did?"
