Sage Vasistha is a revered Vedic sage in Hinduism and is the author of the Mandala 7 of Rigveda. In the great Indian Epic, Ramayan, Lord Rama and his brothers did their education in Sage Vasistha’s Gurukul. He was also Rajaguru in King Dasaratha’s court.
One time Vishvamitra Maharishi came to King Dasaratha and asked him to send Prince Rama with him in order to protect the yaga performed by the sages in his ashram, from the rakshasas who were disturbing it. King Dasaratha did not want to send Rama with the rishi as he was young and also that he could not bear the pain of separation, even though he had promised the rishi anything he wanted. Vishvamitra was not pleased and became angry at King Dasaratha. King Dasaratha offered to go himself with the rishi but Sage Vishvamitra wanted only Rama.
Sage Vasistha who was also present in the court, predicted the future with his powers and came to know about the weapons and training Sage Vishwamitra will be giving to Lord Rama. He informed King Dasaratha to send both Prince Rama and Prince Lakshmana with Vishvamitra and not to worry about them, for they are his disciples and he is well aware of their talents and skills. Even though he is famous for his legendary conflicts with Sage Viswamitra, he supported the deeds of Sage Vishvamitra, knowing the benefits that Lord Rama will get and as the result of which the world will be benefited in the future!
